Without the music of Cole Porter  
ask any show business reporter  
The P.G. Wodehouse, Bolton book  
would hardly get a second look  
and might have sunk like the Titanic  
(some might think it was time to panic,  
though then it might have made more money)  
Still, squeezing melody from prose  
Is something, everybody knows  
Is what show business’ all about  
Anything goes, without a doubt
