Beginnings
crescent, proud and adolescent
wishes to eclipse
sun says: sonny, don't be funny
adding: read my lips
I shall always be the one
but the moon...it's just begun

the three body problem
a physical riddle
the sun: candelabrum
remains in the middle
but as the three bodies rotate
love will, as a rule, turn into hate

gods of war and gods of thunder
gods that feast on pain and plunder
gods of merchants and of traders
gods to beat back the invaders
gods of oceans, gods of rivers
gods of cheaters and deceivers
gods of laziness and duty
and no doubt a god of booty
gods of drunkenness and wine
(few more godly or divine)
gods of love and allegory
but is there a god of worry?
I shall add one as an annex
and his name is surely Xanax
Diomede, he's good indeed
the chariot -- he's best!
hero worships, eighty war ships
Homer lists the rest
beat Aeneas, feared no Dios
quitting, not his style
wounded Ares -- (so embarrassed!)
neither strength nor guile
could defeat him -- Vulcan fit him
with a bronze cuirass
(yes, Hephaestus, do not pest us)
might have saved his ass
with Odysseus, was busy as
can be throughout the war
Iphigenia and many
other missions less abhorrent
but he somehow is unsung
and so here are some words:
Diomede was good in deed
but others get awards
Охуевши, неуспевши
напороть другим муру
ты лапшу его не сьевши
нам не вешай кaк свою
посмотри ка лучше в зеркало
оно тебе споет
что твая белиберда нет, неебала, неебет
The Aeneid, by old Virgil
having chosen to diverge
points to omens that the Romans
(who by then are quite a scourge)
are descended from Aeneas
and proclaims it from the dais
later, Romulus and Remus
having grown up in extremis
will have started ancient Rome
Virgil calling it his home
Homer gives us fewer details
of Aeneas' tale
Hector's cousins by the dozens
some would live and others fail
should the Iliad have really
added this -- it would ideally --
had it made such a prediction
then the claims of "just fan fiction"
wouldn't hound the old Aeneid
but for now, they do indeed
wings of an angel, the rest of him horse
partial to griffins, chimeras and worse
conceived in a likely unspeakable act
history's silent, maintaining some tact
horses with wings -- has a certain allure
best to consider, though, horse's manure
think of a bird as it flies in the sky
does make one worry, I cannot deny
flying around, he is trying his best
but being a horse... fine, I'll give it a rest
he's looking for work since the Gorgon's been slain
Vegas is Pegasus current demesne
at his altar near Gibraltar
old Poseidon sits and frets
as sea level's rise bedevils
Med is clearly off its meds
why would Ocean care -- this motion's
bringing glory to his crown
needs his worshippers' devotion
and the worshippers might drown
Hector contemplates the specter
of a Paris governed Troy
loves his brother like no other
not a prospect he'd enjoy
his Andromache's whole drama
still too distant to behold
so oblivious he's leaving us
he lets events unfold
gates thrown open, he is hopin'
he'll be equal to the task
his opponent though is on it
Patroclus had worn a mask
the man's lover, he'll discover
kills, then drags him through the dirt
Hector dragged more than a hectare
no use faulting Helen's skirt
era brought down by an error
had the Myrmidon been spared,
brave Achilles gave the willies
but remaining undeclared
had the Trojan theologians
with an edge, however slight
bad decision -- in Elysian fields
they still debate that fight
How are you, Your Eminence?
Very well, and you?
Can't complain...
Aphrodite, see through nightie
in possession of both hands
although Venus, just between us
is more popular with fans
same old goddess, ample bodice
is it love or is it lust
none wear nylon but De Milo
cuts a more impressive bust
bright city lights, bridge hanging in the air
the Hudson glows below, absorbs their shadows
its seen its share of wonders, done, been there
when glacial melt first cut it from the shallows
and now it lies in wait, that old man river
the city waiting too: will God forgive her
