would that life was in pastel
colorful and picturesque
seaside village -- I can tell
sitting here, glued to my desk
that would be a lot more pleasant
(time out over, back to present)

you may cry or you may laugh
plot wants and needs on any graph
the truth is, though it may be rough
there is never enough stuff
pity old Clotho as she spins her threads
delicate work as her web grows and spreads
it's not her fault, the occasional bite
being a spider, it's not out of spite
up in the heavens
overwhelmed by Jupiter
Saturn waits his turn
as the park returns to dusk
streetlamps flicker on, their glow
calls the creatures down below
as a doe is called to musk
but not all -- some won't succumb
feel the calling, but can't come

villains gather in their villas
in their sables and chinchillas
they're not ready yet to thrill us
and they don't like to be seen
when the time comes, they are willing
and expect to get top billing
in the meantime they are chilling
as they wait for Halloween
spots or stripes, love knows no bounds
it encroaches and surrounds
till there's nothing that's more vital
surely it deserves its title
you may go ahead and laugh
be it zebra or giraffe
does it matter, does it matter, if it's love?

won't allow: their time has come
and Night soon displaces Day.
