There upon ancient holy plains
God’s warriors clash sword to sword
Men grunting as their armor strains
Kill in the service of their Lord
They share an absolute belief
About the justness of their cause
Suppressing any latent grief
When friends are swallowed by death’s jaws
Their cause is just, God’s on their side
They mutter, trading blow for blow
Until the battle turns a tide
And even then, their eyes still glow
Neither belongs, both sides belong
Their Lord, apparently abstains
Forever right, forever wrong
Their faith persists. Their faith remains.
