Seven Hells

a poem must deliver
in case you ever doubt it
a chuckle or a shiver
it cannot live without it

its form must serve this function
while otherwise maintaining
the requisite conjunction
(am I per chance mainsplaining?)

this can achieve a certain
expected satisfaction
and then, throw wide the curtain
observing the reaction

but doing it on meter
can often be exhausting
