The Heel

fearless Achilles, unbeaten in battle
Trojans retreating, their heroes are rattled
Patroclus' death fuels the demigod's rage
it shan't be sated, we're told by the sage
until good Hector does exit the stage

armor invincible, blood of the slain
spilled by Achilles, the grass on the plain
turns red from green as he cuts down the Trojans
Gods of Olympus, so say theologians
even those gods couldn't beat him that day
demigod born but to kill and to slay

Paris shall kill him, of course, in the end
ancient mythology does have this trend
of killing heroes, regardless of skill
even Achilles has weakness -- his heel
so it's Odysseus that gets the credit
for winning the war and for being good at it

And fearless Achilles? Proverbial tale
even the best might be destined to fail
