Poems

verily, but I shall write a poem
poetry predates the oldest bible
Solomon was great, but Rehoboam
wasn't, and the consequence was tribal
David wrote of beautiful still waters
pastures that are green and greener meadows
this one begat that one, but no daughters
their names staying mostly in the shadows
Samson, did he write one for Delilah
channeled by Tom Jones in his old classic
you can topple temples, cannot BUY love
whether its trochaic or thoracic

she asked me for some pillow talk
so confident, I quoted Keats
though I had no intent to mock
that night was fraught between the sheets
so on the next day, I tried Byron
let me just say, my lovely siren
turned out to be a fan of Poe
and so I quote him, evermore
