Poems

shrouded in twilight
they pray to their master
honor our birthright, Lord
help us grow faster

we're yearning to bathe
in your glorious rays
keeping our faith
in your life giving ways

but there's no answer
the solstice invades
no necromancer
to bring back their shades

and so they strip
laid bare by the season
roots grab and grip
branches begging for reason

green -- but with envy
for evergreen brothers
such though is life
we all seek what is others'

No fan of the dauphin
she struggles for France
while battling voices within

Not even a coffin
when given a chance
they burn her for her will to win

And dead, she's no threat
they make her a saint
a symbol of country and god

they send their regret
and damn with praise, faint
the war, it was won, was it not?

so now she's Saint Joan
it seems more "correct"
though medical doctors dissent

long gone is the throne
she fought to protect
I wonder if she would assent
