so said the retired grandmaster:
we humans, we used to be faster
but A.I.’s advent
which we did invent
has proven to be a disaster

As its capabilities grow
White, black, doesn’t matter, you know
As if we’re beginners
We’re no longer winners
And chess has become tic tac toe

I'm ready to holler and gripe
about any stereotype
a tolerable, pleasant sound
requires a proper surround

at first, he was called simply Bruce
for reasons that are quite obtuse
they changed his first name
to David, when tame
and Bruce fell into full disuse

At least so it was on TV
But Norton, and Ruffalo’s spree
Restored the old name
Our Hulk, still the same
When angry, he’s something to see

on my cookies
was finally able
to swallow Hammurabi's Code
in one hour
Epic of Gilgamesh next

engraved our vows
mine said: and in the darkness bind them
thought it was precious

when looking to win a new race
one mustn't give in to the chase
it's better to plan it
feet firmly on planet
beware or you'll spin in one place

A sonnet to the sonnet I conceive
Our meta world requires nothing less
Shakespearean, and then I shall receive
Your accolades and love -- but I digress
Iambic in pentameter it is
Can't deviate, each stumble costs a point
but proper emphasis will bring release
the critics won't get mad or out of joint
ababcdcd -- the start
efefgg is how it ends
the rhyming scheme must truly play its part
succeed and you shall gather lots of friends
and thus the meta sonnet is revealed
it's form and function now forever sealed

mix metaphor with salt and thyme
add rhythm, and if able, rhyme
bring to boil

I needed to beg, steal or borrow
a poem with tales of a sparrow
alas, with my knack
the Sparrow was Jack
and he sailed away on the morrow

these pirates, they're birds of a feather
love sailing the high seas together
and each has a parrot
which they did inherit
that parrots their ARRs to the aether

of course Davey Jones stands alone
no parrot by his famous throne
an octopus creature
does mimic his features
but under the waves, it has flown

most girls, to be sure
