Poems

as far from mellow as can be
I thrust myself into the void
come, take me, humble bumble bee
and drink my nectar, be adroit

before a ladybug or moth
absorbs my sweetness to the full
come drink this aphrodisiac broth
you’re feeling its magnetic pull

sweet hummingbird, do not head south
the buzzing sound of flighty wings
my carnal pleasure needs your mouth
ambrosia, food for gods and kings

as far from mellow as can be
I thrust myself into the void
A fervent dream, with you and me
I am your patient, you’re my Freud

The monster turns, ready to pounce
The acid spewing from its fangs
There is no foe it cannot trounce
It knows no fear, not felt its pangs

The puny human, he is fast
Rides Pegasus, the winged steed
Avoids her strike, the fire’s blast
But neither has he made her bleed

She sees him take into the sky
His spear, top heavy, creaks with strain
And ride towards her from on high
She wonders what he hopes to gain

He’ll come straight at her, let him come!
She’ll snap the spear like it’s a twig
And roast him and his horse, the chum
He’ll be as tasty as a pig

Here comes the thrust – she takes the spear
And swallows it, feeling no pain
Breathing hot fire, with a sneer
He ducks it, too quick to be slain

But he’s disarmed, her turn to gloat
It won’t be long now, he is dead
Red molten metal seals her throat
His spear was tipped with heavy lead

Incredulous, she gasps for breath
And finally, she does know fear
He lands, dismounts, and gives her death
And on her cheek, a single tear

Oh, what a lovely sunny day
I'm sitting at the beach
The dune holding the waves at bay
I'm safely out of reach
The lovely ladies, in their thongs
a wonder to behold
I love the beach on days like these
if truth is to be told

***********************

Jesus, can it get any hotter
and sure, there's barely room to stand
the beach is mobbed today, the water
is a far walk in scorching sand
can you believe this ugly mama
this "lovely lady", in her thong
one stare, and you're in for some drama
ass hanging out, boy, it's just wrong

*************************

How can they all just laugh and swim, the world is in deep trouble
their attitude does make it seem that they live in a bubble
the ocean rising, soon this beach will be under the sea
I'm sure that they have heard this speech but I can't make them see

Oh well, I can't right every wrong

But at the least, they saw my thong

I love May’s early stormy showers
Thunder, discovering the spring
Frolics about in heaven’s towers
Blue skies are its celestial string

The youthful thunder rumbles sweetly
A bit of rain, a bit of dust
And strings of pearly drops form neatly
The sun then gilds them, as it must

Fast moving creeks churn down the mountains
Birds of the forest chirp as if
They’re mimicking old nature’s fountains
And echoing the thunder’s riff

You might say, Hebe, the rebel spirit
Her father’s eagle makes her fuss
Shaking her cup just so -- you hear it
and laughing, empties it on us

Author notes: https://allpoetry.com/contest/2785051-stormy-weather Tyutchev is a famous Russian poet celebrating nature, and this is one of the most famous Russian poems (of the type studied by every kid in school) -- in my humble translation of course

Shall I compare thee to a summer day?
Though art more sweaty and intemperate.
Rough winds that you so rarely hold at bay,
My lease on life too short for such a date.
Always too hot, too cold, in clothing that confines,
My hopes of happiness substantially dimmed;
And watching as my sanity declines,
And I feel day, by day, like I’ve been rimmed;
But thy infernal summer shall not fade,
Nor is there any hope things will improve,
Nor shall death take you, drag you to his shade,
As Time goes on, I find I have no move
So long as I can breathe, my eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this is forced on me.
