you remember the rapids
and waterfalls
while the water polishes you
into you

The new Steam Punk
rolled over radio stations
like a locomotive
with piston sounding drums
and thick metal strings

coal fired boilers
did make live concerts
somewhat uncomfortable
but were soon replaced
by portable nuclear generators

When God finally tires of creation
Will we receive a message in the sky?
Apocalyptic sign, a short citation
Or maybe it will just be, buh buh, bye?

The Horsemen rest, preparing for their hour
Gabriel’s horn has not been played in years
Does God just watch us, sitting in his tower?
Indifferent to our prayers and our tears?

Answers abound, there’s prophecies, there’s studies
Noble beginnings, and ignoble ends
Answers abound, but me, and my old buddies
Believe it might just be a show of hands

Mathematicians are exact
Precision is in every act
Checking assumptions first
The numbers do their worst
and if the axiom proves out
then lofty theorems can sprout

The poets work much harder
However they might ardor
The words they put down on a page
Often refuse to leave the stage

dull
droning
humdrum
monotonous
incomprehensible
adjective laced gibberish
dripping off frozen landscapes
pockmarked by thesaurus entries
competing amongst abandoned brethren
logic constructs deemed stale extra baggage
by mountaineers etching their write only memories
into impervious granite cliffs, sleek with previous attempts

Axes do not grow on trees. And neither do hands and feet. Stay sharp!
