"The infrastructure of our relationship is fraying"
she said

"The expenditure thus far has not achieved the expected results"
I answered

"It's my policy to forge relationships based on mutual trust"
she said with a glance

"trust but verify, otherwise it's chaos"
I said in stride, thinking, "who is on deck?"

"unlike others, you just don't share my vision"
she frowned. "This may be the last mile".

"I guess my mind is just in the gutter"
I said in disgust

And it was over.

The large Ice cube says...“Don’t even start!"

“whaat?”, the little one whines

“Don’t start with the I TOLD YOU SOs”.

“what?  That we could have gotten that gig at the cryogenics factory? With a lifetime pension?  Job Security?”

“See there you go, I asked you not to say it, but you have to, every time!”

“well why shouldn’t I say it, if we’re freaking melting here like idiots.  We’re going to need a lot more ice to freeze this hell over, he he he...”

“I just hate it how you always have to point out these things.  Ugh, here’s not even an ounce of shade!  Besides, that place was creeeepy!”

“Creepy but cold.  A lifetime of security!  And now, look at us!”

“So what, so we’re going to melt.  What else is new.  You know with Climate Change it was only a matter of time…”

“Yeah right, next you’re going to bring up the freaking polar bears…”

“See there you go.  I send $5 dollars once, you gotta remind me every time…”

They both fall silent…

A minute later the smaller one says: “Frosty, hey Frosty, can you still hear me?”  A few seconds later it hears a faint, “just barely here…”

And the smaller one says: “Frosty, I’ve always loved you.  Always...”

And their hearts melted.

In love before her arrow hits my heart,
forever smitten by the huntress’ poise.
Blood rushing to my ears, a roaring noise.
Dear lady I can’t bear to be apart!

I’m yours. I’m not afraid.  This deadly bow
has felled many a fellow, I am sure.
It’s permanent – this illness has no cure.
Let us dispense with thee and thou and go

to a forbidden forest just nearby,
with mountain streams and flowers of all shades.
We will not need to fear intruding blades.
Please come, my warrior, no need to be shy.

You think me foolish, hands above my head,
trying to woo you for a forest tryst?
Dear maiden, I can’t help it, I insist
I’ve lost all fear, forgotten care and dread.

I offer all I got, my chivalry,
undying loyalty, I'm in my prime,
Fulfil my every wish, you are sublime.
Dear amazon, be my delivery.

There upon ancient holy plains
God’s warriors clash sword to sword
Men grunting as their armor strains
Kill in the service of their Lord

They share an absolute belief
About the justness of their cause
Suppressing any latent grief
When friends are swallowed by death’s jaws

Their cause is just, God’s on their side
They mutter, trading blow for blow
Until the battle turns a tide
And even then, their eyes still glow

Neither belongs, both sides belong
Their Lord, apparently abstains
Forever right, forever wrong
Their faith persists. Their faith remains.
